In October of 2024, we joined the FLO (Fenway Libraries Organization) consortium. As part of the consortium, we are migrating from Innovative Interfaces’ Sierra to an open-source product known as FOLIO that will be managed by FLO.

This change will impact the back-end system that we use to catalog, inventory and circulate our resources and will also impact the public-facing catalog known as HillSearch so it looks different. For our public-facing catalog, we will be using EBSCO’s Discovery Service (EDS), which will integrate electronic and physical resources more seamlessly, so your searches are more comprehensive.

To help facilitate this change, we are asking everyone to return all physical library materials, except interlibrary loans, to the library by May 9th.  Please note, this change will not impact our current interlibrary loan system.

Our new catalog will be live in early May. Stay tuned to this space for more details as we get closer to the date. Library staff will be available to help students and faculty navigate the new system. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at librarydeskgroup@stonehill.edu.

In Fall 2024, President John Denning and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Peter Ubertaccio visualized a space dedicated to celebrate Stonehill scholarship. The historic Irish Studies Library at Donahue Hall, now empty of its original collection, offered an ideal option. Enter Stella Henderson, Class of 2026.

Hauling the first 20 boxes of books published by past and present faculty, Stella and Professor Ubertaccio began the ongoing process of creating an immersive Stonehill research experience. This is only the start. What’s New, Donahue? will give you a monthly snapshot of this developing space.

This month, YOU can help by sticking spine labels on each of the books in the collection. 10 stickers gets you a slice of pizza, loads of fun, and a satisfying sense of having contributed to a bit of timeless Stonehill history. Grab a friend and come on over.
