Course Description: This course will introduce the concept of Population Health Management through the lens of community health issues. We will explore the root causes and illness and disease within communities and then identify risk prevention and health promotion practices occurring within the government, state and local municipalities.
Class Debate: You will randomly be assigned a topic given on the first day of class to research and then create a five minute persuasive speech as to why you are for or against the issue. Debates will take place April 10th . Note cards may be used as reference during your speech, but do not read directly from them. You must include at least 5 primary and 3 secondary sources to supplement your speech.
Research Paper: You will select a health topic that you would like to learn more about then write a 5 page paper on. The paper will be due on March 20th on E-Learn by 9am. Late submissions will not be accepted. You must include at least 6 primary resources and 4 secondary sources for your paper. All sources must be within the past 5 years. You may use APA or MLA to cite your sources. The paper should be double spaced, 12 inch font, roman times numeral, 1 inch margins. Proof read for spelling and grammatical errors.
Although the library is closed over the winter break, library services remain available. Librarians are available by text, phone, and Zoom.
