Fall 2020 Learning Communities: Home

Fall 2020 Learning Communities

As the campus has moved to remote learning from March 18th-March 27th and cancelled campus events, the Learning Communities Fair WILL NOT be held on March 18th.

The Office of General Education has created this site to enable you to browse information about the Fall 2020 Learning Community offerings. The site also includes a tentative listing of Spring 2021 offerings for planning purposes.

We have included contact information for the faculty teaching Fall 2020 LCs, should you have any questions. Faculty will also be in the midst of shifting their courses online; we are undertaking this transition to remote learning together, so we ask for your patience and understanding as you seek out additional information.

You are also more than welcome to contact the Assistant Dean of General Education, Liz Chase, at echase2@stonehill.edu with any questions you may have, or to call 508-565-1450.

Registration Information

How to Choose your LC

myHill  > Students > Academics > Registration Forms

Select your first, second, and third choice

Submit your preference form NO LATER THAN 11:59 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2020.  Late forms will not be given preference.  Your LC placement will appear on your myHill schedule before registration begins.

Important Things to Consider:

  • Make sure you have met the pre-requisites for all the courses connected to the LC before choosing it. Students who don't meet the pre-requisites or restrictions will not be placed.
  • Do not choose an LC if you have already completed one of the connected courses. Students who need an entire LC will be given preference and Instructor permission on a Course Approval Form will be required to complete a partial LC.
  • Check and clear any holds on your account (myHill > Students > Academics > Student Information > My Profile) or you may not be placed into an LC.
  • Entering fewer than three or duplicate choices does not increase your odds of enrolling in your top choice of LC.

LC Placements will be made using a random numbering system and not on a first-come-first serve basis. We will try to enroll you in one of your three preferences (your first choice, whenever possible). Depending on demand / space, some students may not get placed in a Fall LC and will need to select an open LC during add/drop or during registration for next spring.
