Working with a librarian is an excellent way to get the assistance you need to complete your assignments. We can help you learn skills that will save you time and effort and enable you to use your time more effectively.
Librarians are available to help you:
Learn about the types of resources available to you
Learn what types of resources are best for your particular assignment or project
Learn how to find and request items from other libraries
Use databases more skillfully
Understand the difference between popular, scholarly, and/or peer-reviewed publications
Understand how and why you must properly cite your research
There are many ways to work with a librarian, and you can choose the way that best meets your needs. You can contact the the Reference Librarians anytime the library is open.
Individual and Small Group Appointments
If you have a question that requires a little more time, you can make an appointment with any of the Reference Librarians at a mutually convenient time. Scheduling an appointment allows you or your small group to get assistance on longer assignments and papers from librarians who have a good perspective on how you can best accomplish your research goals.
You can sign up for an individual or small group appointments by using our LibCal scheduler. Meetings are held at the Info Cafe which is equipped with a large screen for projection. In this space you can meet with a librarian to learn basic and learn advanced research skills and obtain assistance getting started on a research project. You can request that librarians help you with:
Library basics
Specific databases
Specific citation style guides
Advanced Google search techniques
And other topics
