Evaluating Research: Get Research Help

How Do I Get Help with Research?

Working with a librarian is an excellent way to get the assistance you need to complete your assignments.  We can help you learn skills that will save you time and effort and enable you to use your time more effectively.

Librarians are available to help you:

  • Learn about the types of resources available to you

  • Learn what types of resources are best for your particular assignment or project

  • Learn how to find and request items from other libraries

  • Use databases more skillfully

  • Understand the difference between popular, scholarly, and/or peer-reviewed publications

  • Understand how and why you must properly cite your research

There are many ways to work with a librarian, and you can choose the way that best meets your needs. You can contact the the Reference Librarians anytime the library is open.

Individual and Small Group Appointments

If you have a question that requires a little more time, you can make an appointment with any of the Reference Librarians at a mutually convenient time. Scheduling an  appointment allows you or your small group to get assistance on longer assignments and papers from librarians who have a good perspective on how you can best accomplish your research goals.

You can sign up for an individual or small group appointments by using our LibCal scheduler. Meetings are held at the Info Cafe which is equipped with a large screen for projection. In this space you can meet with a librarian to learn basic and learn advanced research skills and obtain assistance getting started on a research project.
