Getting Started

Welcome

This guide has been designed to give you easy access to the resources most frequently used for history. The home page of this guide will provide you with information about how you can contact the library for assistance, a brief description of the resources highlighted in this guide, links to the Center for Writing and Academic Achievement, and other useful resources. Use the navigation menu in the left-hand column to navigate to those different resources. They include:

Primary Sources - This page contains useful information regarding primary sources, including what they are and how best to find them.

Suggested Books - This page is all about what books may be useful to you when it comes to writing your paper(s). There are five listed books, all from Stonehill's catalogue, but there are certainly plenty more of them available to you. In the spirit of that, there is also an option to use the HillSearch functionality within the page to find more resources within the catalogue. If you have found a book online that is not within our catalogue, feel free to request it via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) or WorldCat.

Suggested Databases - Included on this page is a series of databases, provided by Stonehill, for you to access. They include both secondary resources as well as primary sources, depending on what database you use. There are certainly other databases available to you, and are included on the general History LibGuide.

Citing Your Research - This tab will provide you with access to an electronic version of the Chicago Manual of Style.

Reading in History - This tab provides you access to information about historical thinking skills and questions to consider when reading and analyzing a text.

Off-Campus Assistance - This page will assist in any off-campus needs, from logging on off-campus in order to view databases, to InterLibrary Loan assistance.
