A guide to reserving and using the virtual reality room.

Overview

Welcome to the Virtual Reality Room!

 

Located in MacPháidín Library Room 106B, the Virtual Reality Studio is available for Stonehill students, faculty, and staff. The room has is equipped with Meta Quest 2 headsets that can be used for exploration and experimentation with virtual reality! If you have questions about booking the room please contact Garrett McComas at gmccomas@stonehill.edu.

Please read the Terms & Conditions for the room. When you have made your reservation, please come to room 111B first to receive your equipment. If you have any questions about the technology, we will be able to assist you as well.

User Agreements

By using the VR equipment at the MacPhaidin Library, you:

1. Are responsible for any damage to the equipment that is not accidental 

2. Will not take the equipment outside of the Virtual Reality room 

3. Will only use applications that are currently downloaded onto the equipment 

4. Will clean the equipment after I am done using it using the supplies in the virtual reality room 

Virtual Reality Safety: 

1. Always place the headset and controllers on the computer table or TV stand, never on the ground.

2. Be aware of cables during use.

3. Make sure controllers are secured to your wrist during use.

4. Stay within the boundary grid during use.

5. If you feel nausea or discomfort, take the headset off immediately and sit down.

6. Do not use the headset when you are: tired; need sleep; under the influence of alcohol or drugs; hung-over; have digestive problems; under emotional stress or anxiety; or when suffering from cold, flu, headaches, migraines, or earaches, as this can increase your susceptibility to adverse symptoms. 

7. Consult your doctor before use if you have a pre-existing medical condition including, but not limited to, epilepsy, PTSD, binocular vision abnormalities, psychiatric disorders, or heart conditions.
