The Informative Speech

Choosing a topic will mostly likely be the most difficult part of this assignment. The library has access to numerous databases and this guides links to websites that can provide the information you will need to write an informative and well researched speech

Select a topic that you are interested in. You will already have some background knowledge of the subject, making researching easier and enjoyable.  If you do not have a topic in mind, brainstorm for ideas.

  • What topics are you currently discussing with your friends?
  • What have you learned while working, taking a class, or an experience?
  • Do you have a hobby or interest in a particular sport?
  • Did you read or watch a news story or see a movie that caught your attention?
  • Do you have a research paper due for another class and may be use this assignment as a starting point?
